How It Began

What started as an article gone mega-viral has blossomed into us showing up daily for The Curls AND The Culture.

Our Story

Why Cut It Kinky?

Cut It Kinky has made it our business to uplift a segment of the beauty community that has been underrepresented and underserved through our education in the art, science, and business of Tight Curls.

We are Black female curl artists with both professional and personal missions to serve the tight curl & natural hair community. We believe in paying Black educators. We believe that cosmetology education should center the end user’s (the client’s) experience, aesthetics & desires. We believe in The Curls AND The Culture.

For The Curls & The Culture

We’re Aeleise & Aishia, the brand agnostic founders behind Cut It Kinky, authors of Wash Your Damn Hair, podcast hosts of Curls Disrupted, and behind the chair tight curl experts with a combined 21 years of hands in curls experience.
For the last 7 years we have shared everything we know about tight curls + natural hair with the texture ecosystem of stylists, consumers, product brands, and influencers.
